The following describes what information is found in the bibliography’s different fields (marked with capital letters in the list below). The lowercase headwords in the left-hand column are examples of other words and phrases that occur in Old Swedish bibliography. Please note that this is not intended as scientific terminology. The central column gives and English translation.

The design of newly extracted records derives from Katalogiseringsregler för svenska bibliotek, 2nd edn. 1990 in such matters as normalisation of titles, information on series, etc.

Manuscript information is given according to this model: Location, archive, signum/ shelfmark (e.g. Uppsala, Uppsala universitetsbibliotek, C 181). A list of archives appears under HANDSKRIFTSARKIV.

RUNE SIGNUM

Refers to the content of the listed publication in the Swedish runic bibliography and contains a rune signum (catalogue designation) according to Samnordisk runtextdatabas (the Joint Nordic Database of Runic Texts). You can thus search for inscription number Ög 136 and get all the literature that deals with the Rök stone or G 280 and get all the literature that deals with the Pilgård stone. Contemporary inscriptions and the Dalecarlian runic inscriptions are referred to by a signum according to the model D_Rv + serial number.
