The following describes what information is found in the bibliography’s different fields (marked with capital letters in the list below). The lowercase headwords in the left-hand column are examples of other words and phrases that occur in Old Swedish bibliography. Please note that this is not intended as scientific terminology. The central column gives and English translation.

The design of newly extracted records derives from Katalogiseringsregler för svenska bibliotek, 2^nd edn. 1990 in such matters as normalisation of titles, information on series, etc.

antologi	anthology	Cf. PUBLIKATIONSTYP. Anthology containing several contributions by one or more author.
artikel	article	Cf. PUBLIKATIONSTYP. Article. The entry in the record is an element of another publication (e.g. journal, conference report, reference work).
avhandling	thesis, dissertation	Cf. PUBLIKATIONSTYP. Academic thesis doctorate (or earlier equivalents).
band	binding	Can be given a record of its own. Often abbreviated Bd. Not synonymous with volume. (Cf. häfte, del)
bio- och bibliografi-föremål	subject of biography or bibliography	Cf. PUBLIKATIONS-FÖREMÅL. Person, archive or library (location), institution or equivalent that is the subject of a published biography, bibliography or bio-bibliography.
bio-bibliografi	biography/ bibliography	Description of a person's life and writings.
biografi	biography	Description of a person's life.
del	part	Can be given a record of its own. Often abbreviated D. Not synonymous with volume. (Cf. band, häfte.)

FORNSVENSK VERKTITEL	OLD SWEDISH TITLE OF WORK	Only in edition records.
Fornsvenska texter	Old Swedish texts	Section of the bibliography containing manuscripts and editions.
FÖRLAG, se ORT	PUBLISHER	see ORT.
FÖRFATTARE/ UPPHOVSMAN	AUTHOR/ ORIGINATOR	Medieval and modern persons. Names are, where appropriate, normalized (initials are resolved, etc). Searches are not sensitive to word order in respect of the names.
G&C, GoC	G&C, GoC	Fornsvensk bibliografi by Robert Geete (1903), Supplement 1 by Robert Geete (1919), Supplement 2 by Isak Collijn (1945–1948)
G&C-KOMMENTAR	COMMENTS IN G&C	Information concerning, inter alia, the size of the publication, location and examiner of a thesis, content, etc.
HANDSKRIFTER	MANUSCRIPTS	The database section Manuscripts contains records with details of the occurrence in manuscript of a particular Old Swedish work (cf. VERKTITEL). Information on manuscripts also appears in edition records. Manuscript information is given according to this model: Location, archive, signum/ shelfmark (e.g. Uppsala, Uppsala universitetsbibliotek, C 181). A list of archives appears under HANDSKRIFTSARKIV. Also a TYPE OF PUBLICATION.
häfte	instalment	Only rarely a separate record. Often abbreviated to H. Not synonymous with volume. (Cf. band, del.)
INGÅR I	PART OF	If the entry in the record is part of another publication (e.g. journal, conference report, monograph, reference work), information on the main work appears here.
kapitel	chapter	Cf. PUBLIKATIONSTYP. The entry in the record is part of another publication (e.g. journal, conference report, monograph).
KOMMENTAR	COMMENTS	Details of works, manuscripts and publications, concerning contents and formal matters.
konferens	conference	If the record entry is a conference report, unless it is evident from the title, details of the conference appear in KOMMENTAR
konferensrapport	conference report	Cf. PUBLIKATIONSTYP.
LATINSK ORIGINALTITEL	LATIN ORIGINAL TITLE	Only in records for editions. (Cf. VERKTITEL.)
Litterära hjälpmedel	Literary resources	Section of the bibliography containing secondary literature for the Old Swedish texts, together with other research into medieval Sweden.
monografi	monograph	Cf. PUBLIKATIONSTYP. Separately published paper containing one study by one or several authors/originators.
NAMNFORM I PUBLIKATIONEN	FORM OF NAME IN PUBLICATION	Given when the form of the name of an author, publisher, editor or translator in the publication differs from information on the normalized name in the field FÖRFATTARE/UPPHOVSMAN, UTGIVARE or ÖVERSÄTTARE.
NUMMER I G&C	NUMBER IN G&C	Number of the record in Geete och Collijn’s published bibliography. Not searchable in the Old Swedish bibliography online.
ORT OCH FÖRLAG	PLACE AND PUBLISHER	Place name information in G&C (Literary resources) which in some way differs from that in current usage is also given in modern Swedish form. Publisher given (principally) after 1944.
periodisk publikation	periodical	Cf. PUBLIKATIONSTYP. Periodicals (e.g. journals, year books). Abbreviated titles in G&C have been resolved. Titles are given where relevant in their most recent spelling.
PUBLIKATIONS-FÖREMÅL	SUBJECT OF PUBLICATION	Name of the medieval person or place which the record’s publication handles in more detail. Note that sankt, sankta, s:t, den helige, etc. is given as S. (e.g. S. Birgitta). Names of modern archive and library locations and persons as subjects of bibliographies, biographies, festschrifts, etc.
PUBLIKATIONS-TYP	TYPE OF PUBLICATION	This information refers to form and/or content, and includes manuscripts. Types of publication are: article/chapter, thesis/dissertation, edition (sometimes with accompanying properties), manuscript, conference report, monograph, periodical, review, ephemera, compilation, offprint (only from G&C), reference work, extract, university paper, translation (sometimes with accompanying properties).
RADER	LINES	Only in edition records.
RECENSION	REVIEW	Concise information concerning reviews of the publication in the record. Also a PUBLIKATIONSTYP.
RUNSIGNUM	RUNE SIGNUM	Refers to the content of the listed publication in the Swedish runic bibliography and contains a rune signum (catalogue designation) according to Samnordisk runtextdatabas (the Joint Nordic Database of Runic Texts). You can thus search for inscription number Ög 136 and get all the literature that deals with the Rök stone or G 280 and get all the literature that deals with the Pilgård stone. Contemporary inscriptions and the Dalecarlian runic inscriptions are referred to by a signum according to the model D_Rv + serial number.
samlingsverk	compilation	Cf. PUBLIKATIONSTYP. Compilations containing different contributions by one or more author. Includes both editions and secondary literature.
SERIE(	SERIES	Records for publications that form part of a series contain details of the series name and number. Records for publications (article/chapter) that form part of another publication duplicate information on the series here (to facilitate searches). Abbreviated series titles in G&C have been resolved. Series titles are given in their most current spelling where relevant.
SIDOR	PAGES	Page range for article/chapter, otherwise number of pages.
SIGLUM	SIGLUM	Characterization used in editions of a manuscript. It shows the relationship of the individual manuscripts (plus editions of the same) to other manuscripts of the same work.

Svensk runbibliografi	Swedish runic bibliography	Section of the database containing a bibliography concerning Swedish runic inscriptions.
särtryck	offprint	Cf. PUBLIKATIONSTYP. Used only when details of the original publication are unavailable, especially records from G&C.
TITEL	TITLE	Title of publication. (Information unavailable for over 500 editions.)
universitetsuppsats	university paper	Cf. PUBLIKATIONSTYP
UPPHOVSMAN, se FÖRFATTARE	ORIGINATOR	see FÖRFATTARE
UPPLAGA	EDITION	Refers to the publication of a particular record. Other supporting information relating to earlier or later editions and impressions are given under KOMMENTAR.
uppslagsverk	reference work	Cf. PUBLIKATIONSTYP. Reference works (e.g. dictionaries, encyclopaedias, lexicons).
utdrag	extract	Cf. PUBLIKATIONSTYP.
UTGIVARE	EDITOR	Modern and medieval persons. Names are, where appropriate, normalized (initials are resolved, etc). Searches are not sensitive to word order in respect of the names.
VARIANTTITEL	VARIANT TITLE	Only in records for editions. (Cf. VERKTITEL.)
VERKTITEL	TITLE OF WORK	Old Swedish work of which the publication on the record is an edition or which it handles in more detail. The information is normally derived from G&C, and is used (as in the printed bibliography) principally for manuscripts and editions. The information is given more sporadically for literary resources. Note that sankt, sankta, s:t, den helige, etc. are given as S. (e.g. S. Birgitta).
VOLYMER	VOLUMES	Number of volumes in the publication of the record.
ÅR	YEAR	Year of publication and/or printing. Given in parentheses for a record from G&C of an article or chapter.
ÅR FÖR ORIGINAL-VERKET	DATE OF THE ORIGINAL WORK	Only in records for editions.
ÖVERSÄTTARE	TRANSLATOR	Modern and medieval persons. Names are, where appropriate, normalized (initials are resolved, etc). Searches are not sensitive to word order in respect of the names.
översättning	translation	Cf. PUBLIKATIONSTYP. Occurs with several different following details, e.g. Translation to English.
