The Old Swedish and the Swedish runic bibliographies

The Old Swedish bibliography online is a re-working and continuation of the printed bibliography compiled by Robert Geete and Isak Collijn for the period up to 1944 and published by Svenska fornskriftsällskapet (the Swedish Early Text Society). The Old Swedish bibliography online covers the period to 2021. The structure of database and the literary resources section has been developed by Dr Ulrika Djärv while the manuscripts and editions sections have been compiled by Dr Patrik Åström. The project was funded by Riksbankens jubileumsfond (the Bank of Sweden Tercentenary Foundation) (2009–2012) and the Department of Scandinavian languages, Stockholm University. From April 2013, Diplomatarium Suecanum, Riksarkivet, is the host institution, and funds have been provided by the Royal Swedish Academy of Letters, History and Antiquities.

The Swedish runic bibliography online includes the Swedish runic bibliography 1880–1994 produced by Jan Owe BA and the bibliographies published in Nytt om runer. The Swedish runic bibliography online covers the period to 2021. The structure of database as well as the compilation of data has been developed by Jan Owe and Jan Axelson. The Swedish runic bibliography has been financed by Riksantikvarieämbetet (the Swedish National Heritage Board), The Royal Swedish Academy of Letters, History and Antiquities, Department of Scandinavian languages, Stockholms University, Department of Scandinavian languages, Uppsala University, and Professor Inger Larsson.

The Nordic editor of Diplomatarium Suecanum, Dr Ingela Hedström, is responsible for the contents of the databases and contacts with users. Jan Axelson is responsible for additions to the Swedish runic bibliography. Dr Claes Gejrot, editor-in-chief of Diplomatarium Suecanum, is project leader.

 

The illuminated initial of the website is from Magnus Erikssons landslag, Konungsbalken (Magnus Eriksson's Law of the Realm, King’s book), folio 25 v. in the so-called Codex Aboënsis (the former Kalmar Codex), Stockholm, Kungliga biblioteket, B 172. The runic animal is from the runic inscription U 29, Hillersjö, Hilleshög socken.
